December Camp Update

Greetings from Hoofbeat!
It's been incredibly busy this fall at camp. The rainy weather had made things pretty muddy and we are still trying to get the horses pastures more leveled out. When it's warm and muddy they dig the ground up and then it freezes and makes big lumps! Not fun for the horses to walk around on or for us to drive the truck around for feeding. It's finally getting better though!
Work is done on the bridges on HWY 14 (in Black Earth) that had been damaged or washed out during the fall flooding. If you are headed to camp in the near future, there's no need to take a detour. Yay!
We have had several retreats, Girl Scout groups, Mother/Daughter Weekends, a wedding ceremony (two former staff members that met at camp), and birthday parties the last few months. Ted and the maintenance crew have been busy bringing in firewood, repairing fences, and repairing the deck of the LongBranch building.
The Hoofbeat herd of miniature ponies are hosting our annual Christmas Party this year. It's December 15th and we are looking forward to a fun day of riding, arts and crafts, grooming the horses, and a candy cane hunt.

Christmas Camp has filled and has a waiting list. Campers and staff alike always enjoy Hoofbeat in the winter! The horses are extra fuzzy with their warm winter coats - perfect for bareback riding!
There are some weekends open still for retreats, so if you have a group looking for a facility to rent let us know!
This coming summer we will not be offering an Intro to Sleep Over Camp, but we do have a Horse Lover's Weekend for girls May 3-5th. This is a great way for girls to try sleep away camp before coming for a full week.

Day camp registration is open now, so see the website for info.

We've started hiring staff for next summer and are looking forward to having our return staff as well as some new faces. The day camp director for 2019 will be Amanda (who has been our resident camp program director the last few years). Check our Facebook page for staff bios and other camp updates.

That's all for now! We hope you are enjoying the holiday season and from our family to yours, have a very Merry Christmas!
-Ted and Mary Marthe and all of the Hoofbeat staff and horses
